Linda was born into a life of dance, sharing her pram with the stack of music, records and record-player needed by Betty for her dance classes in Marshall Hall and followed by hours of dancing images as baby Linda watched the lessons progress. As soon as she could stand - she joined them! Her first TV appearance was in the children's talent show, 'Carol Levis Discoveries', at the age of 6. She then won the, 'Best All- Round Dancer' category in the Arts Awards, 4 years in a row, along with numerous awards for dancing and singing in festivals throughout the UK. Linda's first professional job was as a lead dancer in Cabaret. The company very soon recognised her talents as a choreographer- and so, at the age of 16, she was choreographing for the touring company- From there, Linda's career took off with summer shows, pantomime, revue, TV specials and musicals in London and Europe which included, 'Sweet Charity', and also 'West Side Story' at London's Shaftsbury Theatre for Bill Kenwright, in which she played Anita. Linda's choreography skills were increasingly in demand and so this became her full time work. Amongst the shows she choreographed were the 'Benny Hill' and 'Jim Davidson', shows for Thames TV, 'Cinderella' RTE, 'Top of the Pops' BBC, 'Out and About' BBC and 'Leisure Time' BBC. She was also flown to New York for the TV Special, 'Salute to Thames'. Linda has choreographed many promotional shows such as, L'Oreal, Anglian windows, Black & Decker, Dance world, Hair Innovations at London's Hippodrome & the Diamond Jubilee for CCPR at the Royal Albert Hall. She also choreographed the '1999 Harrods Christmas parade', 'Where the River Meets the Sea' in the Millennium Dome at Greenwich and a 'Gala Performance' at the Hackney Empire. Repertory and Fringe Theatre includes 'Sweet Charity', 'South pacific', 'Oklahoma', 'Chess', 'Carousel', 'Guys and Dolls' and 'Annie' Linda won 'Director of the Year' for directing 'Barnum' and she also choreographed the solo routine for the national tour of 'Stepping Out'. She has choreographed and directed many pantomimes including 'Cinderella', 'Dick Whittington', 'Queen of Hearts', 'Puss in Boots', 'Aladdin', 'Sleeping Beauty', 'The Pied Piper', 'Sinbad the Sailor', 'Babes in the Wood' and many more. Linda is now the Principal of The Finch stage school and gives regular classes for professionals and students. She is a life member of the B.A.T.D. London District Stage and Ballet Committee and is a frequent lecturer. Many pupils, past and present, are successfully working in various branches of the entertainment business - West End Theatre, TV, Pop Videos, Pantomime, Plays, Cruise ships, Cabaret, Choreography and Directing. Many are also working on the technical side of the business as Agents, PR, Stage Management, Lighting and much more. There are now at least 50 schools throughout the UK, which are run by teachers who have been The Finch Stage School. Footnote: I would like to thank my mother for introducing me to the wonderful world of dance. Her encouragement, talent and enthusiasm has given me a fantastic career and my hope is that I can now train my pupils to enter the magical and exciting world of 'Show Business'.
